Hello Everyone!
Hopefully you all enjoyed your long, hot weekend - it certainly doesn't seem that summer has come to an end. With the beginning of the new week, we now begin our 2 week special area rotation schedule, which means for the next 2 weeks the students will have Art every day during our specials block.
Testing! Testing!
Information has been sent home about all of the up coming testing. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week the students will be participating in the CogAt testing. As a class we have discussed how to help ourselves be prepared for testing bright and early each day. The class will complete their MAP testing on Friday, September 18th and Tuesday, September 22nd. I will send reminders home when we get closer to the dates.
Recording Nightly Reading
Beginning this week students are expected to begin recording their nightly reading in their agenda. We will mark in our agenda exactly what information is expected to be recorded each evening: Book title, Author, about of time read. I am encouraging the students to take responsibility to write the information in their agendas themselves.
Please note: I put a big paper clip in every child's agenda to make it easier for them (and me) to open their agendas to the correct week. Many of the clips have already vanished. If you could help your child clip or rubber band their agenda to the correct week, it would be a BIG help!
Curriculum Night
Mark your calendars! Parkside Elementary School will hold their Curriculum Night on Tuesday, September 22. More details will follow.
Wear Red This Friday!
We will be having a PEP rally on Friday and are encouraging all students to wear red to school.
